Beautiful People

Today one of my coworkers, a non-muslim made the following comment, insert my name here you’re cute as a button and you should know that and the guy that gets you should too and he should treat you well.” This comment had me thinking. I posted the comment on snapchat and I got quite a few replies. The most common was the word: True. My cousin recently explained to me people only post things on social media so they get an affirmative reply. For example, more times than often people post pics on SM so people compliment their looks. Lol, I’m not much of a picture person but this was so foreign to innocent me. But maybe that’s why I got quite a few one-word reply and I promise that was not my intention.

Anyways, one of my friends mashallah replied with the longest cutest message. God bless her soul. The gist of what she wrote is. “That guy must be on top of the world. Because you’re nothing less than #1. I hope Allah finds the best person for you that makes me actually realize that I am wrong and that there is someone in this world on your level.” Very beautiful, right? As much as this touch my heart, it hurts when my friend compares me to a valuable commodity like gold but doesn’t view herself in the same light. On that note, I pray Allah gives her everything she wishes for me and unveils her beauty to herself.

Alhamdulillah, I know my own worth. I’ve come too far to never settle for less. Like the guy who told me, he will need to rest for 6 months and catch up and life..ummmm Hello Sir, I am not your nor anyone’s babysitter, GOODBYE or the guy who started the convo with “Salam, I have no intentions of residing in the west“, also GOODBYE or the guy that wanted me to lead the convo, I call him, Mr. Tell me about yourself or Mr. Send me a recent pic of yourself, ummmm GOODBYE. Epic fails huh?

I honestly believe in approaching courtship like a business transaction and an investment. Aint nobody got time to waste time. Obviously, the clock is ticking and age is always a factor but I will not let that impair my judgment as it has with people I know. Some would say, I have crummy luck, but I don’t think so. I think it’s all Qadr. I am looking for the needle in the haystack and not the hay(not entirely, but you get my point right?) Some would say that I’m too picky, if that’s the case, I guess looking for someone who is my kind of beautiful(real and truthful) on the inside is too picky.

Seeing people around you get married off can affect you, yes, because of the biological clock society has put you on and the one people keep reminding you about. mashallah. You may feel all alone while simultaneously being happy for them but that’s life and at the end of the day, you have to hold your head up high and keep moving forward for you.

Having said that, I am honestly excited and hopeful for Allah’s plan and when he has it planned whatever that may be and I will continue to tie my camel. The way I see it, I have more time to do as The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your riches before your poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before your death.

If you made it this far, THANK YOU fellow readers, and feel free share your thoughts in the comment section below.

  1. Loved the post ma shaa Allah. This explains my situation rn 😊 Yes! It’s all Qadr and whatever is yours will never miss you. Alhamdulillah for everything! ❣️F

  2. Loved this. You need to be true to you. Every sister and every brother deserve to be with someone who is the best for them. Loves the best. Treats them best.

  3. Good on you for sticking to your guns and not bowing down to pressure that the clock is ticking so to speak. In sha Allah you will find the right one.

  4. Trust me when I say it is much better to be alone than in a bad marriage. Kudos to you for not settling. Women don’t have expiry dates. You will find the one for you at the appointed time– and he will confirm that it was all worth the wait. <3 All the best dear.

  5. This is such a great post! May Allah continue to keep you confident with yourself. It’s very important to not feel pressured by people especially when it is such a huge decision.

  6. This was such a refreshing read – I thought the exact same thing before getting married and always tell others that marriage IS like a business contract – and those details should definitely be discussed before marriage- may Allah help you find your soulmate soon iA
