I’d like to start this post with a grave reminder:
“Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. “Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people.” 2:287
The above verse speaks for itself.
My day began with my aunt overwhelmed to tears. We were both deeply saddened, simultaneously our heart shattered as we were overcome by the number of deaths and causalities in Egypt today. I, myself witnessed live deaths. How can this be, one may ask? How can so much blood be spilled and people’s hearts still remains hardened, one may ask? The answer to these questions is one of the Pillars of Faith, Qadr(Predestination). This was undoubtedly meant to be; This was planned by Al-Hakim(The Wise) from the beginning time.
It should be noted: 33days ago, I resided in Egypt for a duration of 8months. And I spent the past 7months loving it. I felt at ease, at home; It was and is my home. Hence, this situation pains me a great deal. Politically, I am close to ignorant, so I shall refrain from such talks.
Recent images in Egypt show rivers of blood, innocent blood. Is this how it feels like to be helpless? I wish I could do something, anything. let it be donate blood; let it be donate money; and/or donate anything purchasable.
Our brothers and sisters are dying? DYING!! By the second!! All over the world; let it be in Egypt, Syria, Palestine and etc. And the international community remains silence if not stand firm with the transgressors? NONETHELESS, we shall prevail for Allah has promised us victory. We don’t need anyone for we have Allah, and what can be more sufficient than he.
“…Grieve not. Surely, Allah is with us.” 9:40
I mentioned in a previous post, Allah tests those he loves. Through trials and tribulations does he construct a road in which we may return back to him before death befalls us. Brothers and sisters in Islam, never lose hope for a beauty beyond our comprehension lies behind fate. Allah wishes us no harm; On the contrary, Calamities are blessings in disguise. Brothers and Sisters in Islam, I urge you all to view the happening in Egypt as a blessing for Allah loves the Egyptian people. And by the grace of Allah, they shall succeed in their worldly test. And by the will of Allah shall they reunite in the one and only paradise.
I recently came across the series of duaa below in a book compiled with Ibn Taymiyyah’s (Sheikh al-Islam) Letters from Prison. The following can be found in the letter he wrote to his companions during his imprisonment in Alexandria, Egypt. I cannot think of a more appropriate time to share it.
“O Allah! Be Merciful to the believers, men and women. Gather their hearts and resolve their differences. Make Muslims victorious over Your and their enemies, and distance them from sin, the apparent and the hidden.
O Allah! Aid Your Religion, Book and faithful servants. O Allah! Punish the disbelievers and hypocrites who desire to obstruct Your Path and change Your Deen.
O Allah! Send Your unswerving might upon the transgressors. O Allah! The Mover of Clouds, the Revealer of the Book, and the Striker of the Confederates! Strike them, pulverize them, shake the earth under them, and assist us against them.
O Allah! Aid us and do not aid others against us. Plan for us and not against us, and help us overcome our oppressors.
O Allah! Make us amongst the thankful, the obedient and those who return to You,
O Allah! Accept our repentance, and cleanse us of our sins. Strengthen our reasoning and correct our tongues, and take out those dreaded diseases from our hearts. And Praise be to Allah, whose succor of the Sunnah is permanent, and His crushing of the people of innovation is plain and evident. May blessings and peace be upon Muhammad, (saw), his kin and companions (ra).”
I pray Allah accepts our duaa’s, I pray we bring forth patience in times of calamities, so that we may be rewarded, I pray Allah makes us righteous believers like described in the first 11 verses of Surah Al-Mu’minūn(the Believers)
Certainly will the believers have succeeded:”
They who are during their prayer humbly submissive”
And they who turn away from ill speech”
And they who are observant of zakah”
And they who guard their private parts”
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed -”
But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors -”
And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive”
And they who carefully maintain their prayers -”
Those are the inheritors”
Who will inherit al-Firdaus(the highest degree of paradise). They will abide therein eternally.”
I pray we take it upon ourselves to take full advantage of the remaining days of this blessed month of Ramadan for Allah is As-Samee(The All-Hearing), Al-Baseer(The All-Seeing). I pray that Muslims worldwide extend their duaa’s and wealth to others.
I propose we come back to our lord before death befalls us. I sincerely hope the dead are blissfully welcomed into paradise as we strive for a way to our final destination.
Nevertheless, may we die implementing Surah Al Fatiha. May we die Muslim. May we die Momin. May we die Mohsin.
